Field Trip #3

Post date:30/Mar/2023

Forty students, mainly GAC students but also including Japanese and international students, participated in the activities at Ise Jingu Shrine and Okage Yokocho.

After leaving the university by bus, the students boarded a ferry crossing Ise Bay. Despite the chilly weather, many students enjoyed taking commemorative photos on the deck of the ferry. Upon arrival at Ise Jingu Shrine, the students were divided into groups of a few randomly assigned to explore the shrine and engage in group activities such as souvenir hunting. At the "Hall of Mythology," a facility that introduces Japanese mythology, some students interpreted the guide's explanations in Japanese into English for the group members and provided explanations, and they became familiar with Japanese mythology together with the group members. Afterwards, the group members discussed Japanese mythology with each other, providing an opportunity for cross-cultural communication.

The students said, "It was a good opportunity for us to learn about Japanese mythology again and discuss the origins of our countries with each other."
"I was worried about getting seasick since it was my first time on a ferry, but I enjoyed the pleasant breeze."
