Screening Schedule

Intake Period: April 1, 2018

Round1

  • Application submission period:
    -August 1-7, 2017 (Application materials must reach us by 5:00 p.m. on August 7)
  • Interview date:
    -September 1, 2017
  • Announcement of successful applicants:
    -September15, 2017 (10:00 a.m.)

Round2

  • Application submission period:
    -December 21-26, 2017 (Application materials must reach us by 5:00 p.m. on December 26)
  • Interview date:
    -January 17, 2018
  • Announcement of successful applicants:
    -January 25, 2018 (3:00 p.m.)(EJU screening method)
    -February 6, 2018 (3:00 p.m.)(National Center Test screening method)

Application Eligibility

Applicants who have completed a 12-years standard education curriculum, expect to complete in March 2018 or the equivalent

Application Requirements

1) Applicants must take any one of the following academic proficiency tests.

A. Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students(EJU):

Required subjects: Math (Course 2), Science (Physics), and Science (Chemistry). No Japanese language subject is required. Examination language can be chosen either English or Japanese by applicant's preference.

B. Japan National Center Test for University Admission:

Required subject: Mathematics I・A, Mathematics II・B, Science (take two from physics, chemistry, and biology)

2) Applicants must take English proficiency tests such as TOEIC.

  • One of each score of 1) and 2) must meet any of the following minimum conditions.

Screening Methods

All applicants are evaluated based on the following information provided and interview.

  • EJU or Japan National Center Test for University Admission score
  • English Proficiency Test Score
  • Essay (English or Japanese)
  • Recommendation Letters
  • Transcripts
  • A statement of reason for applying (English or Japanese)
  • An interview (in both Japanese and English)

※Interview via the Internet is available for international applicants.

2018 Academic Year Third-year Student Application Guidelines have officially been announced.

Number of students accepted

3rd year students
  • 35 (Japanese KOSEN students)
  • 15 (International KOSEN students)
  • A few (non-Japanese KOSEN students, returnees and international students)

Admission/tuition fee exemption and other financial support will be prepared for eligible and high qualified student.

Academic fee for undergraduate is 535,800 Japanese yen/year(267,900 yen for one semester) for 2017 enrollment.
